This page lists everything The Tribe stores in your browser, in plain terms. We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in, a little browser storage to remember your choices, and (only if you opt in) a first-party analytics pixel. We run no third-party trackers, no advertising cookies, and no cross-site tracking.
Essential: always on
These are needed for the site to work, so they don’t require consent.
- tribe_session (cookie): keeps you signed in after you log in. It is HttpOnly, Secure and SameSite, and holds only an opaque session token (never your password). It is set only once you log in.
- tribe-theme (browser localStorage): remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme.
- tribe_consent (browser localStorage): remembers your analytics choice below, so we don’t ask again.
Analytics: only if you accept
These load only after you choose “Accept analytics” in the consent banner. If you decline (or haven’t chosen yet), none of the following is set and the pixel never fires.
- tribe_vid (browser localStorage): a random visitor id so we can count returning visits. Created only after you accept.
- The /px.gif pixel: a 1×1 image request to our own server that records the page you viewed, the referring page, your browser’s user-agent, a best-effort bot flag, an approximate country worked out from your IP address (we do not store the IP itself), how long you actively spent on the page, and how far down you scrolled.
- Product events (/api/ev): a few first-party events such as page views and whether a door form was started or submitted, tied to the visitor id above.
- Session grouping (browser sessionStorage): a short-lived id that groups the pages you view in a single visit, so ten page views are not mistaken for ten different people. It is cleared when you close the tab and resets after 30 minutes of inactivity.
- Article reading depth (/api/ev): on blog articles only, how far you read (25, 50, 75 or 100 percent), so we can tell which pieces people find genuinely useful. We never record anything you type.
All of this is first-party: it is sent only to our own server and is never shared with an ad network or analytics company.
Changing your choice
You can change your mind at any time. To withdraw analytics consent, clear your site data for thetribe.cloud in your browser settings (this removes tribe_consent and tribe_vid), and the consent banner will appear again on your next visit so you can choose afresh. Declining leaves your essential sign-in cookie untouched. The site keeps working exactly the same.
